| Ishida Total Line Solution at FOOMA JAPAN 2008 |
FOOMA JAPAN 2008, an International Food Machinery & Technology Exhibition was held at Tokyo Big Sight from May 27th and 30th. Under a slogan "A Total Solution of supply chain from food processing to retail store system", Ishida as a leading company of weighing technology proposed wide array of solutions for processing, weighing and packaging, inspection, distribution, and efficient retail operations.
One highlight was weighing and packaging systems. In order to satisfy various needs for fully integrated system in the market, Ishida showcased three types of solutions, including one new bagmaker. ATLAS bagmaker in combination with 14-head CCW-R multihead weigher was performing high-speed bagmaking up to 200 bags per minutes with its continuous sealing jaw motion. And, ASTRO-S bagmaker applicable for pillow bag and gusseted bag, was exhibited in twin configuration with a double-discharged multihead weigher CCW-R-216B-D, performing high output with minimum footprint. In addition, a new concept bagmaker ARES, exhibited as a prototype, was introduced as a high quality bagmaker capable of creating tight and high-quality seal thanks to Ishida's original seal jaw motion.
A new concept CCW-R-218WB-D was also introduced as a double discharged multihead weigher equipped with gentle handling and sanitary structure. This new weigher is oval and capable of high-speed output up to 120 bags per minutes of each side in minimum space.
Another key highlight was a solution of inspection in response to recent growing demands for food safety. Ishida proposed a wide range of quality control systems, including X-ray inspection system IX-GA series for inspecting contaminations by metal, glass, bone or plastic and checkweigher DACS-WN series with various types of metal detectors. Especially in recent years, the X-ray inspection has received high demand in order to meet high food-safety standard. Ishida exhibited versatile lineup of the X-ray machines that is applicable to various food configurations including large product or bulk product and that is equipped with sanitary structure or small footprint structure.
In addition to those individual exhibits, Ishida proposed a series of solution for food manufacturing factory, distribution center, and retail store. At a model factory line in the booth, including processing, weighing, packaging, and inspection process, Ishida factory management system was demonstrated to consolidate production including product giveaway, labeling, and traceability from integrated PC. For distribution after the process of manufacturing, Ishida distribution system with picking/sorting machine was providing smooth delivery of products to retail stores. In addition, a model supermarket was installed, showcasing Ishida's store management system for efficient retail operation that is capable of product-receiving, stock control, real-time sales update and analysis, item master change, etc., from a series of integration system including Ishida's label printer, ESL Electronic Shelf Label, and POS system.
Thanks to many supports, Ishida could welcome more than 3500 customers through the four-day trade show with many important enquiries. We would like to further enhance solution for a total system from food manufacturing to retail stores and contribute to high efficient operation of many customers.

| Inside News: Welcomed overseas students from U.K. |
On June 10, Ishida has welcomed thirty-two overseas students from CLANFIELD university of U.K. as part of their program of leaning Japanese corporate management. With the introduction from top executives they have learned corporate management, philosophy, stage of business as well as product lineup. They also visited factory and saw how Ishida's machines are manufactured and what is important in the process of manufacturing, including quality control, measure for safety and so on.
We are very glad to have such a good opportunity and hope this experience will be really meaningful for those students who are prospective.

| FISPAL packaging and processing trade show in Sao Paulo |
One of the largest packaging and processing show in South America was held in Sao Paulo from June 3rd to 5th. Ishida do Brasil Ltda., a sales and production base of Ishida in South America set up its own booth for the first time and showcased a wide range of solutions.
For this show, Ishida exhibited some of its main products including two CCW-R multihead weighers, two DACS checkweighers in addition to two sets of X-ray inspection systems for detecting foreign objects. In order for visitors to understand high performance of Ishida machines, we operated the exhibited machines and demonstrated for customers' demand.
As one of solutions for the X-ray inspection, we showed inspection variation depending upon product configurations or conditions with actual demonstrations, which was received special interest from the visitors. Also at the weighing solutions, a booster type multihead weigher CCW-R-216B, the two sides of which can be operated independently, was also received keen attention.
Through the three-day exhibition, we were pleased to welcome more than 250 customers.
Taking this opportunity, we would like to further strengthen relationship with customers in South America and continue to supply quality products as well as after sales survice in the region.

| ISHIDA’s technology of CCW introduced on a book |
Ishida’s combination weighing technology of CCW multihead weighing is introduced in a book published by Nikkei on May 2008 with the photograph of CCW-R on the front cover of it. This book chooses and presents Japanese medium-sized companies that are highly contributing to Japanese manufacturing industry with its innovative technology. The companies on the book were also broadcasted on a TV show (World Business satellite) through last year and received high reputation.
We are very glad to be introduced on the book and are proud of Ishida’s technology accumulated for 115 years. And we would like to further contribute to society by developing state of the art technology.

Accurate weighing for fresh and highly adhesive products;

Ishida's new multihead weigher with rotary screw-feeder can provide innovative solution for weighing of difficult-to-handling high adhesive products such as raw meat, raw fish, cooked pasta, etc.
As such sticky products tend to easily stick to weigher's surface and absorb vibration of dispersion feeder of the weigher, it is quite difficult to feed them accurately into weighing hoppers. What Ishida proposes as a solution is "screw-feeder". A set of screw-feeder rotates according to product configurations, providing appropriate and precise control of product supply to the hoppers of even highly adhesive materials.

| New development in ATLAS VFFS bagmaker |
Ishida has launched the ATLAS-122C and 112C, compact models of the existing ATLAS high-speed snack foods bagmaker. These new models have the superior capacity of the existing ATLAS models in downsized compact flame, providing ultrahigh-speed packaging with high seal integrity.
*High output with minimum space
The compact flame allows a twin configuration, providing high productivity in a limited space. When combined with a 16-head multihead weigher, it can produce 120bpm on each of the two sides, for a total of 240bpm. What's more, the two sides can be operated independently, with both producing a different bag size or different product at the same time. This feature adds production flexibility, allowing you to accommodate the varied operation schedules of individual production lines.
*High Operability
The easily understood icons displayed on RCU make it readily accessible and easy to operate. Also, the single integrated control panel gives you total control of the weigher, bagmakers, checkweighers and seal checkers as well as the optional metal detector and printer. This system clearly minimizes operator effort while reducing training costs.
After announcing the new development, we received many inquiries from around the world. More than dozen units have already proven their usefulness in the field and have earned an excellent reputation worldwide.
